This long-running and very popular series of lunchtime recitals features a wide variety of performers, playing and singing in one of Edinburgh's most beautiful concert spaces. These concerts are free by donation, and a perfect way to spend a lunchtime during the busy festival!

Biography

Philomusica of Edinburgh was founded in 1976 by David Hume MBE primarily to give his pupils and other musicians of a high calibre the opportunity of playing in a small chamber orchestra. The current director is Lawrence Dunn who joined the orchestra in 1978 and took over in 1999 when David died, Philomusica of Edinburgh has toured throughout the UK, performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe each year and has played for many choral societies in Edinburgh and elsewhere. They have a wide ranging repertoire including baroque and modern music, film music, light music and have even played for silent films.
